Pioneer and Commander are the last frontiers where you can play these with no restriction
It represents a massive mana boost on turn 3, if you had a turn-1 dork its mana neutral, and they stack beautifully
Stitch in Time breaks that mold, but I still think its the best option for coin flip cards
Only ramping for equipment might be too restrictive, but Freya at least carries the equipment well and sets you up for an explosive start every single game
Outside of removal, there's other powerful spells like the game-ender Exsanguinate, and the value engine Lingering Souls, both of which work well with Y'shtola's abilities due to being greater than mana value 3 when cast
The problem is, the only card draw comes from an eight-cost, uninkable song that will leave multiple characters vulnerable thanks to the new Sing Together mechanic
